How it works

  • One stud per spacing plus one per wall, two extra at each corner and intersection, and kings, jacks and cripples at each opening.
  • Header sizes are rough single-story rules of thumb — check IRC table R602.7 for your loads and spans.
  • Add your supplier's unit prices to any line for a cost estimate; tax and markup are optional.

How to measure

  • Measure each wall's length and plate-to-plate height. Enter rough-opening widths for windows and doors.

Estimates only. Coverage, sizes and waste vary by product and job — verify with the manufacturer's specs and your local building code before ordering.
